Summary (1990 - Paris - Tripoli - Dakar)
In 1990, Mitsubishi continued its success story with the Pajeros at what was by now
the 12th Dakar. The 12,000 km route led, as in the previous year, through the forbidden
Libyan desert. Substance, resilience and reliability are the basic requirements
for any machine to survive the challenges of the Dakar all the way to the finish.
The rest is almost pure luck. To finish first, first you have to finish,
says an old rally cliche, and Mitsubishi's Pajeros are legendary for their ability
to finish. The team maintained its one hundred percent record of delivering at least one car,
in the top ranks, to the capital of Senegal, this time with Cowan
in fourth and Shinozuka in fifth. The Pajero proved once again that it is equal to almost any
situation and gives its drivers confidence. In the T2 class,
Hiroshi Masuoka continued another tradition, taking first place in his
class and proving that the Pajero is still the benchmark in this class.
